16-year-old singer Lorde is youngest person to score US Number One for 26 years

Hotly-tipped New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde has topped the US charts with debut hit ‘Royals.’  The single had been at Number Three in the Billboard Hot 100 for several weeks, but has now replaced Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’ at the top spot. The song has been a slow burning success, selling 294,000 downloads in America last week, but close to 1.9 million copies in total, reports Herald Sun.
